Bitcoin retreats, U.S. crypto reserve optimism fades

Bitcoin initially rallied above USD 94,000 before retreating below USD 85,000 after Trump’s crypto reserve proposal failed to sustain momentum. The initial surge reflected optimism that a U.S. strategic reserve could legitimize digital assets and drive institutional adoption.

However, the pullback suggests skepticism as market participants await details on implementation and funding. Without a concrete policy framework, bitcoin could remain volatile. Near-term uncertainty over Trump’s regulatory stance could keep Bitcoin fluctuating within a range and limit sustained institutional inflows.

Concerns over the reserve’s structure emerged from key industry figures although bitcoin continues to establish itself as the dominant institutional crypto asset. If the reserve prioritizes Bitcoin, institutional flows could increasingly converge toward the cryptocurrency.

Looking ahead, if President Trump follows through with regulatory easing, bitcoin could regain momentum. However, continued uncertainty could keep crypto markets range-bound.
