Help Us Reach 100,000 Signatures – Petition on UK Cyprus Policy

A parliamentary petition has been launched to review the UK’s Cyprus policy after more than 40 years. To secure a debate, we need 100,000 signatures.

It has gone unexamined for more than forty years, and in that time it has normalised exclusion for Turkish Cypriots, including many British citizens. As a guarantor power, the UK has a duty to reassess its stance and ensure fairness and equality.

The petition was launched on the day Afzal Khan, the UK’s Trade Envoy to Turkey, was asked to step down after visiting Northern Cyprus. His resignation was a pressing reminder that this policy has been left unreviewed for far too long.

We need 100,000 signatures for the petition to be considered for debate in the House of Parliament. This is a rare opportunity for Turkish Cypriots to come together and be heard. By uniting behind this petition, we can show that our community will not remain silent in the face of continued exclusion.

Review the UK’s policy toward the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus

We believe that the UK’s policy not to recognise the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TNRC) has left Turkish Cypriots, including British citizens, isolated for over 4 decades. We think this should be reviewed, to help end exclusion and help ensure fairness and equality for all Turkish Cypriots.
