“Bus fare cap will make a real difference”

Responding to the announcement of a £2 single bus fare cap in England from January 2027, Silviya Barrett, Director of Policy and Research at Campaign for Better Transport, said:

“Making bus travel more affordable is great news for the millions of people who rely on buses every day. At a time when many households are still feeling the squeeze, lower fares will make a real difference and help more people choose the bus. We have long campaigned for more affordable public transport, and a £2 fare cap will provide a convenient, low-cost alternative to driving, helping people save money on fuel and parking while supporting cleaner, less congested communities.”
