The Global Journalists Council (KGK) has issued a message to celebrate the 105th anniversary of the founding of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey and National Sovereignty and Children’s Day on April 23. The message stated, “April 23, the first and only holiday in the world dedicated to children, is one of our most important national values that places our country in a very special position globally.”
In the message signed by KGK President Mehmet Ali Dim on behalf of the Board of Directors, the following statements were made:
“April 23, a day gifted not only to Turkish children but to all the children of the world, is one of our days of honor and pride. The 105th anniversary further amplifies the pride and honor we feel as members of the deep-rooted Turkish nation. It is our joy that the Republic of Turkey, founded by Atatürk and whose foundations were laid on April 23, 1920, has stood tall for 105 years. April 23 marks the proclamation of our national sovereignty. On this special day and its 105th anniversary, we want to emphasize once again that it is the responsibility of all of us to ensure that our children—who will be the leaders and decision-makers of our future—are raised well. We are ready to fulfill every duty to prepare our children, the guarantors of our future, for tomorrow. On this occasion, we extend our best wishes for this holiday to our nation and to all the children of the world. We remember with respect and gratitude our great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk the architect of this unique holiday and our forefathers, as well as our martyrs who gave their lives to help us reach these days. We celebrate this meaningful day with hopes that our nation will reach many more April 23 holidays in peace, and we extend our respects.”
