Philip Lane works commenced

Philip Lane works commence as new low-emission electric bus fleet expands.

UK Power Networks (UKPN) will install new electricity cables to the bus station on Philip Lane, N15, to power their expanding fleet of low-emission electric buses.

This project aims to bring significant benefits to the community by reducing emissions, improving air quality and promoting a more sustainable, eco-friendly future for residents across the borough.

The work will be carried out in three stages, starting on Friday, 31 January 2025, and is expected to finish by 16 April 2025. Various traffic measures will be implemented during each phase of the project, but they will not remain in place for the entire duration.

Additionally, bus diversions and stop closures will occur during phase three, from Sunday, 6 April to Wednesday, 16 April 2025. Bus routes 341 and 230 will be affected, and bus stop ‘T’ on Philip Lane will not be in use during this phase.

There will also be temporary changes to low traffic neighbourhoods (LTNs). In the Bruce Grove West Green LTN, camera-controlled enforcement will be temporarily suspended at Mount Pleasant Road, The Avenue, and Broadwater Road during the three phases of work to allow traffic to navigate the area.

Camera-controlled enforcement will, however, be back in force between each of the three separate phases, from 5th to 16th February and then again from 24th February to 6th April. Normal enforcement will return after 16th April.

The new electric buses will cut down harmful emissions, leading to cleaner and healthier air. Their quieter engines will also reduce noise pollution, making the area more peaceful. Additionally, by supporting green energy, these buses contribute to a more sustainable future for the borough.

UKPN and TfL are aware of the disruption this may cause and are working with the council to minimise inconvenience as much as possible and scheduling work during school holidays when feasible.

Further information and details about each phase can be found here.
