The TRA has opened a new expiry review into imports of certain rainbow trout from Turkey. Businesses affected can register their interest by 6 February 2026.

The Trade Remedies Authority has today (22 January 2026) initiated an expiry review into an existing measure, on imports of certain rainbow trout from Turkey. The TRA will investigate whether subsidisation of the imports is likely to continue or recur and if injury caused to the UK industry by the subsidised imports is likely to continue or recur if the measure were to expire. This investigation is in response to an application from the British Trout Association.
This is the first UK expiry review and it relates to the countervailing measure TS0002 on certain rainbow trout from Turkey. The TRA has assessed the application and considers that there is sufficient evidence to initiate a review.
Businesses that may be affected by this investigation can register their interest on the investigation’s public file by 6 February 2026. Businesses affected can also join an online drop-in session on 4 February 2026 to learn more about this review and how it might affect them.
Expiry reviews
Expiry reviews provide the opportunity to review whether measures that are due to expire are still needed. They are a standard procedure under the WTO’s trade remedies framework. During an investigation, we assess evidence submitted to us by interested parties to then make a recommendation on appropriate measures to defend UK economic interests.
UK producers who believe that the expiry of a measure could lead to a resurgence of dumping or subsidisation that would cause injury to their industry can apply for an expiry review. UK producers who apply will need to provide sufficient evidence that allowing the measures to lapse would be likely to result in continued or recurring injury to their business.
Notes to editors:
- The TRA is the UK body that investigates whether trade remedy measures are needed to counter unfair import practices and unforeseen surges of imports.
- In 2026, some UK anti-dumping and countervailing trade remedy measures will be expiring. UK producers of the relevant goods, that believe the expiry of the measures could lead to a resurgence of dumped or subsidised imports that would cause injury to their industry, can apply for an expiry review to establish whether the measure is still needed.
- The window for affected domestic producers to apply for an expiry review is currently open for the following goods: cold-rolled flat steel, HFP rebar from China.
- The Trade Remedies Advisory Service offers support in explaining the review process, reviewing submitted information and checking draft applications or review requests. Comprehensive guidance is also available online and is designed to help UK producers understand how to submit a successful application for an expiry review.
- All UK producers of goods currently protected by a trade remedy can keep up to date with the expiry date by using the Trade Remedies Service. The TRA will publish information as an expiry date approaches, ensuring the application window is clear for relevant producers.
- Any relevant UK producers who would like to know more about the options available to protect their industry from unfair trading practices should contact our Advisory Service. Email: contact@traderemedies.gov.uk
