Enfield’s Labour Council Launch great ENFIELD POTHOLE PURGE with new Government
funding to help fill additional 13,936 potholes a year
Enfield’s Labour Council is today launching a new plan to fill 13,936 more potholes in the coming year, using £1million in new funding from the Labour Government.
Councillors are calling on residents to report potholes, either directly to the council leadership, their councillor or on the local authority website as councillors prepare for the biggest potholes purge in a generation.
Launching the campaign, Labour’s Rick Jewell, Cabinet Member for Transport and Waste said, “People hate potholes – I hate potholes – and thanks to the new Labour Government we have finally got the funding we need to really take them on. From April this year Enfield will get an additional £1.007 million – enough to fill 13,936 potholes. And that’s exactly what we are going to do.
“So, if you see a pothole let us know. “We all know that this country has endured 14 years of failure under the Conservatives, but that’s over now and the work of change has begun. We won’t turn Britain around overnight – but we will get there and fixing the scourge of potholes on our roads is a big step in the right direction.”
